It's been a while since I read a book that grabbed me and held me captive. This summer, as part of my "clean out" project, I read lots of books that had been waiting on my bookshelf. Looking back I realize that they were non-fiction I do and did enjoy them. But fiction can be so wonderful.
As I get older I find that it is harder and harder for me to get my interest piqued. I'm sure I've shared that I have a low tolerance for boredom so it's imperative that I get pulled into a story quickly...or I just don't have the "stick to it ness" to, well, stick to it. When I go to bookstores I usually end up with seven or so books to sit down and evaluate. I read the book flaps. And
read the first few pages. It may be me and my lack of focus these days, but I haven't been able to find a book that said..."You can't put me down". At least in a while.
That changed last Sunday when I finally decided to get the book I've heard (read) so many great recommendations for. And, I'd like to thank everyone in blogland for mentioning this lovely book: Eleanor & Park.
I also love that all of the blogs did not include spoilers. And I promise no spoilers here!

I am thirty-seven years old, and I loved Eleanor and Park. Oh, my goodness, that book was just....darling. I wrote in my little thing of a review that the characters probably would've annoyed me if I had to hear the "oh my *God*" in person, but....otherwise, it really touched me. I love hearing about how others loved it, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, I'm so glad you stopped by. It's so neat how books can touch us in different ways. I read that the author was considering writing a sequel but is now leaning towards not writing a sequel. I totally think the story ends exactly where it should.
DeleteRainbow Rowell is a great writer. I loved how real everything felt, and I totally wanted to make a mixtape afterward.
