It was routine surgery really. But it was my first. I wasn't scared so much as nervous and uncomfortable. The doctor came to talk to me just before I got wheeled into the OR. "How are you feeling?" he asked. I told him where I hurt and he said, "we're going to fix that". Those words were oddly comforting. We are going to fix that. So nice to hear someone so confident that "it" can be fixed and they can do the fixing.

Keeping It Real
I've been off-line since Tuesday. I've been cranky. I didn't want to write/blog in my cranky mood. Actually, I'm being too nice when I say I've been cranky. I've been sullen. Maybe that is a better world. Yes, I believe that is a more honest description of what I have been. I hesitate to write when I'm this way. I hesitate to write because of several reasons:

I want this to be a place for fun. And I hope it is {sometimes, at least} funny. I'm completely okay with biting humor. I don't want this to be simply a venting venue. That's almost too easy.
Interestingly, I'm not the only person that struggles with trying navigating this boundary. I participated in the #blogsmarts twitter party yesterday. For me, the answer to "biggest" {blogging} struggle question revolves around this.

I mean, I love to read other blogs...and I enjoy being allowed to see a little snippet of the blogger's life...but I'm not under an illusion that the blog showcases the entire life. After all, a blog is not a diary.

Permission to Rest
I haven't written a blog post in a week! How is that possible? But I've been thinking about my blog every day. Thinking I can't wait to get back to my keyboard. I want to write something...it's been too long...But, after work functions and the need for sleep overruled my desire.
I had to give myself permission to rest. My doctor(s) give me a very hard time about my sleep habits. They tell me that my sleep habits MAY be contributing to my {very minor} health issues. I am "healthy", don't get me wrong. I have great blood pressure, my cholesterol numbers were as good as ever, etc. Only real health complaints are Asthma (we are getting this better controlled) and fatigue. Oh, and weight.
I just hate always thinking about weight. I had been a Jenny member for two years (or longer). I lost weight and plateaued. But (same old story) as soon as I decided to eat "real" food, my weight crept back up.
This could very well be because my definition of "real" food isn't a nutritionist's definition of real food.I had to give myself permission to rest. I did do something that has helped me feel good about myself. I broke down and bought new clothes. Yes, they are a size larger than what I had been...in fact my body returned to a previous size. But the clothes are flattering. The dress I'm wearing above and to the right is one of my favorite new pieces.
I purchased a few things that I need to take back. They didn't fit the "perfect" bill. I've been meaning to get back to the store with these pieces for over a week. Somehow the idea of taking back is not as appealing as bringing home.

What Do I Do? When I'm not Bloggin'?
My current job is one of my coolest jobs yet. It's a niche bank that caters to start up or newly started companies. So, we get to work with some really cutting edge type companies and some really cool individuals with great ideas and courage.
The other kinda cool thing about the bank I work for? We don't have a retail presence. We are strictly a commercial bank. No bank branches, teller windows, ATMs. It is nothing like most people would think of as a bank.
I have most often worked in the operations side of things...I've never been a teller and I've never worked in a bank branch. So, even though I have almost always worked for a bank, you would never run into me in the bank.
I don't talk about my job for several reasons.
